Worldreader
Support Organization
The world is losing enormous potential because children are not reading. 64% of the world’s 10-year-olds are unable to read and understand a simple story, meaning they’re in learning poverty. Yet reading has been linked to improved educational outcomes, stronger emotional intelligence, and higher earning potential.
Life without reading is a life of unmet potential – we must get children reading now or the future is at risk. Worldreader gets children reading so they can reach their potential and build a better world.
Who we’re supporting
Worldreader is an international nonprofit organization working with partners to get children reading at least 25 books a year with understanding. Through its reading programming and complete reading experience BookSmart, Worldreader motivates children aged 3-12 and their families to read early and often to build reading comprehension and strengthen social-emotional and digital literacy skills.
Mission
Worldreader gets children reading so they reach their potential. They work globally with partners to improve reading outcomes in children aged 3-12.
They develop and provide evidence-based reading programming to community-based organizations, schools and other learning institutions, and the private sector, resulting in children’s improved reading comprehension, emotional intelligence, and digital literacy skills.
Approach
Worldreader is tackling the learning crisis in a unique and scalable way, making it easier for young children to read more books, more frequently, with the support of their caregivers.
By harnessing the power of technology, they can reach larger portions of society more cost-effectively than traditional physical book reading programs, while creating an engaging reading experience that gets and keeps children reading regularly. They do this through a unique A-B-C-D-E model.
How we can help
Reading is the best investment in a child’s future and the key to ending learning poverty. By giving children reading opportunities, you support their learning. Every $1 invested in a child’s early learning can yield a $4 to $16 dollar return.
With the help of dedicated supporters, Worldreader has supported more than 21 million readers in over 100 countries since 2010. But they’re not done yet. Your support today helps millions more have access to the reading opportunities they need to reach their potential and lead happy, healthy, and successful lives.
